SCREEN FREE Family of 6 Evening Routine | No iPads, TV, YouTube, etc.!
FREE 5 day challenge where we walk you through how we earn 7 figures working online with littles: americandreamrevival.com/integrated-life-challenge-signup
Today we're sharing our screen free family evening routine! Years ago we went completely screen free as a family, meaning unless it's looking up how to do something on UA-cam, we don't entertain our children with screens. It was incredibly hard at first because at the time we thought it made parenting easier, but after a while we realized - screens actually increased tantrums in toddlers! Overall, they just made other things in life less enjoyable. Since this transition, we've had to find more creative ways to spend time as a family and be more intentional as parents. Hope you enjoy!

Why are people scared of having kids? Why is there an entire movement dedicated to spreading the idea that it's a good thing to be "childfree"? In today's video we're talking about our thoughts on the childfree movement and how having kids won't ruin it, but actually save it. The American Dream is a fading belief today, but we want to bring it back! Welcome to the American Dream Revival with Ha...

From the physical and mental health benefits to finding others that were just as tired of parks as we were, becoming "hiking people" (which is a joke we really aren't) has been amazing. In this video we're talking about how we were able to make this transition even with 4 little kids that have never wanted to hi...

    I find it funny that people continue to compare a place with a measley 2 million people to one with 40 million. Just imagine what California would look like with just 2 million people. Non comparable. Please compare apples to apples. Enough with the comparisons

    I totally agree with homeschooling but I think there are some misconceptions about schools. It's more about our society in general than just schools failing. Parents used to send their children to school prepared to learn and the family was to teach respect and values with the school supplementing these things. In the past 30 years or so the family unit has become weak and schools have been asked to step up and do things they were never suppose to do. If you are a caring and responsible parent, I don't think you realize what kind of things are going on in schools. Children are there who have been exposed to violence, disrespect, sexual molestation and exposure to sexual content they are not prepared for. My neighbor is an elementary principal and just 2 days ago a first grade girl completely trashed a classroom, throwing things like chairs at other students and the pregnant teacher. The teacher called for help but could not touch the student to subdue her or she could have lost her job. About a month ago this principal had a mother and aunt in his office who became angry and started screamiing and cussing and throwing stuff off his desk. If you don't work in schools then you have no idea. These are not isolated incidences and happen in schools in cities and small towns. I'm certainly not saying there are not bad teachers, administrators, poor programs, etc but I just want people to know the other side of the story.

    In addition to my comment below ..we lived in 4 states in 5 yrs ( all personal moves - KY< OR<GA<MT) huge moves ....i can attest to life in the south (18 yrs total) , ubrining in SoCal all my life into young adult hood (san clemente ) and now MT - Bozeman. I could not imagine living anywhere else in the country. We are 5 hrs from CDA and are visiting soon . I say go for CDA...you will adapt the stnow is not terrible .its healthy to have hearty seasons , our body craves the slower days of winter too. the outdoorsy mentality and beauty for the kids with so much nature inspirated living is really important for development esp now in this nutty world (did you hear about the killing in FAshion Island this past weekend?) i mean nuts . get your kids somwhere safe, low emf, lots of pride, nature living ..you wont regret it.

    Idaho native here. Idaho is full - this is because we have some of the least livable land per capita compared to Montana for example, due to the quantity of designated Federal and State land, which we get to enjoy recreationally only. Our water resources are tapped out - there is a 2 year wait list in my county for new water hookups due to the influx of people that we do not have the resources for, that these newcomers are not helping finance. Also...if you're going to talk about a place, please get your statistics correct. CDA is hardly even true north Idaho anymore - Bonners Ferry/Boundary county is what touches the Canadian border. Please come and assimilate into our beautiful state, but yes, leave your state's ideologies and politics behind. We are a strong, independent state that takes our Nation's freedoms seriously, and we live here to enjoy God's creation and the liberty to raise our families as we see fit.

    Welcome Californians! Idaho has a long history of poverty, unemployment and bad schools. But that has been slowly changing with the influx of out of staters and the social conscience that comes with them. We in the panhandle have broken the cycle of ignorance with progressive thought that is helping the whole population. We still have the militant faction that clings to backward ways, but things are looking up. Welcome California!

We live at the tip top of the Frank Church Wilderness. You would hate it here no Target, Starbucks or Trader Joes. Lots of guns though. In the panhandle there is no poison oak or poison ivy or rattle snakes.

    Idaho might seem like there is so much "land" but I remind you, that 61.63% of the TOTAL state is Federal land. People can't just pick a plot of land and build a homestead. Over half the state belongs to the Feds.

    My mom was a SAHM mom / working mom (never a career woman, but several different jobs over the years). My sister and I went to school. She was one of those who did the cleaning, errands, organization, etc. when we were out of the house and figured if we ever had questions about how to do housework beyond the basics, that we would ask. My FIL and MIL ran a business, plus he pastored for a few years, plus my MIL alternated between homeschooling and Christian school for my husband and his 8 siblings. My husband spent a good deal of his childhood with his grandma taking care of her, so his growing up which pretty much an “all hands on deck - just get it done” type of deal. Fast forward, and my husband and I married while I was in college. He works at the family business his father started, and I work there part time plus we homeschool. I say all this to point out that probably very few millennials on down grew up in the “typical” home life, and due to the moms working dynamic, a lot of us were never truly apprenticed in the art of homemaking. That’s why many women yearn to learn domestic skills but feel so out of their element with it.

    • @Es24688
      @Es24688 Місяць тому

      So speaking to your first point about mindset - both my husband and I grew up in Christian families and were at church every time the doors were opened. However, that doesn’t mean biblical homemaking was ever a topic of discussion. In fact, college and careers and not marrying “too young” instead came up quite a bit. I was pushed towards college, so there’s almost a guilt that comes with me not having a career while my sister instead works full time at a job she’s had for about a decade. There’s guilt that I’m letting my family down by not being a very good homemaker because I’m still learning so much. There’s also embarrassment that I never learned so many things or mastered any of it before having children. There is also overwhelm that I’m trying to break the cycle in my family and be a very hands on, homeschooling mother who is training my children (especially my girls) to be more knowledgeable and capable than I was about so many things. It’s also overwhelming to not have an older lady as a mentor because I don’t personally know any ladies who were homemakers or homeschoolers. Everyone in my parents’ generation worked it seems like, so no one is able to teach the young ladies, young wives, and young mothers.

    If you feel so strongly about your kids' education then you might consider the limited outcome when their teacher doesn't realize "your guys's" isn't anywhere near correct grammar. Good luck. Your kids will need it. Taking a risk with the lives of your children might not play out the way you intend, but we all know you're really doing this because it's what's popular with online influencers right now.

    • @be9988
      @be9988 Місяць тому

      Wow. I made my first comment after only the first few minutes of the video, before I heard "populized" which isn't even a word in the English language. You must've meant popularized... I wouldn't normally judge but you're homeschooling four kids and their future depends on their education or lack thereof... You may want to rethink your choice.

    • @be9988
      @be9988 Місяць тому

      Wow wow wow... this just gets better and better (or worse)... you actually said you want to teach people how to train up your children? I know you claim to read a lot of books. You might want to look that one up because I doubt it means what you think it means unless you're advocates for child abuse which I'm fairly certain you aren't. Seriously, think about your kids' future... homeschooling is trendy right now but it isn't right for everyone and unfortunately many are too stubborn to admit their own faults until it's too late and the damage is irreparable. Good luck to your kids. Think long term, longer than your current vision.
